Certification Training

Becoming a licensed security guard in Texas starts with getting your certification. SRT offers the official training you need to begin that process. This is a required course for anyone applying for a Level II non-commissioned security license in Texas. The course is online, state-approved, and can be completed in one day! Once you finish it, you’ll receive a certificate that you’ll use when applying for your license through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

The training gives you a practical foundation to move confidently into the field. You’ll have access to a secure, user-friendly platform where you can complete the course at your own pace.

The material is built around real-world situations and responsibilities you’ll need to handle on duty.

  • Legal responsibilities and Texas security laws
  • Ethics and professional conduct
  • Public interaction and communication
  • Conflict resolution and useofforce guidelines
  • Patrol procedures, fire watch duties, and documentation

After passing the final assessment, your certificate will be ready to download and submit as part of your licensing process.

Once you complete your Level II training and receive your certificate, you’ll move on to the official licensing process through the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). This happens on the Texas Online Private Security (TOPS) portal.
