When a fire protection system becomes impaired, restoring it is the top priority. However, when immediate repairs are not possible, local fire codes and authorities often require the implementation of a fire watch. In these situations, continuous on-site monitoring is critical to ensure life safety and property protection.

Fire Watch Definition

A fire watch is a temporary safety measure involving continuous and systematic surveillance of a facility by qualified personnel. Its purpose is to identify and control fire hazards, detect early signs of fire, initiate alarms, and promptly notify emergency services.

SRT Fire Watch Protocol

Security Reconnaissance Team (SRT) deploys trained and qualified officers to perform fire watch services in full alignment with local fire code requirements and best practices. Our officers follow strict procedures to ensure safety, compliance, and accountability:

• Arrive on-site with all required fire watch equipment and reporting tools 
• Establish contact with the designated responsible party upon arrival and during shift transitions 
• Exchange contact information to ensure immediate communication while on-site 
• Conduct a full familiarization of the facility, including layout, exits, and emergency access points 
• Verify all egress paths are clear and unobstructed at all times 
• Identify locations of fire extinguishers, standpipes, and critical fire protection equipment 
• Proactively identify and mitigate fire hazards, including ignition sources, improper storage of flammable materials, and combustible waste accumulation 
• Perform continuous patrols of all designated areas:
  • Large facilities: minimum once per hour 
  • Smaller facilities: minimum every 30 minutes 
• Maintain constant presence—officers will not leave their assigned post unless properly relieved 
• Remain alert and prepared to respond immediately to any signs of fire or emergency
